You’ve been on Pinterest for months looking at pictures of kitchens, you’ve wandered through the aisle of home improvement stores looking at cabinets and you think you’ve picked out the perfect countertop for your kitchen remodelling. Now it’s time to meet your remodeler. Remodelling a kitchen can feel overwhelming, but this list will break it all down for you and give you some great ideas and five things to do before you meet your remodeler.
Take the time to have a look at other kitchens on Pinterest, have an idea of what kind of materials you want and have an idea of your colour scheme. By informing yourself you will have a better idea of what is out there and be able to more confidently discuss the options with your remodeler
Identify the style, design and functionality you are hoping to get out of your kitchen remodel. Do you cook a lot, spend a lot of time in the kitchen and want something highly functional as opposed to trendy? Or, do you want to create a warm atmosphere that will allow you to cook and entertain? What colours do you want? What colours and style will match the rest of the house? Having some ideas before you meet with a remodeler will make the meeting a lot easier, a lot shorter and streamline the process. Gather some pictures of kitchens you like that reflect your style and bring them to show your remodeler when you meet.
This list can include anything – from colour, to cabinet size - this will give your remodeler an idea of what you absolutely do not want and will help you identify the areas that are most important to your kitchen remodeling. By making this list you may identify that there isn’t enough space in your kitchen or that you really hate the size of your sink, knowing this and sharing it with your remodeler will allow them to create new solutions and give you the kitchen you really want.
There are so many options for appliances, including colour, styles and functionality. Maybe you’ve always dreamed of a wall oven or energy efficiency is important to you. During the kitchen remodelling it is easy to get really into colours, cabinets and countertops but your appliances are vital parts of your kitchen. Take the time to think about the appliances you want, the appliances you need and where you want them located in the kitchen.
This is a huge consideration when remodelling a kitchen, but many customers don’t think about this until later. By creating a budget before you even begin thinking about a kitchen remodel or meeting with your remodeler you will have a much better idea about what you can afford, how much money you want to spend and can make decisions much quicker and easier. Before you meet your kitchen remodeler take the time to identify the top number – the absolute most money you want to spend. Then when you meet, present that number to the remodeler as well as the remodelling you want to do. A professional remodeler will present the possibilities and work with you to create a remodelling plan that reflects your budget.
I would like to send a thank-you for my wonderful kitchen renos done by
your company. It was a pleasure to work with Wendy Gay. She is very
professional, friendly and skilled at her job. She visited our home
several times to ensure our renos would suit our wants and needs. We
have dealt with many contractors and trades people as we have been fully
renovating our home. Wendy, by far, has been the best person we have
worked with! She should be recognized for her excellent customer
service and professionalism. Thanks again for making this process a
very positive experience. Our kitchen is beautiful!"
